Genius season 3
Genius season 3

Genius Season 3 was due to arrive on National Geographic in May 2020, but production had to stop due to the pandemic. Here we are now in 2021, and these episodes devoted to Aretha Franklin finally arrive on the channel almost a year later, that is to say from March 21, 2021.

This season 3 of Genius, therefore, features Cynthia Erivo (Harriet, The Outsider) in the skin of Aretha Franklin. A civil rights activist alongside Martin Luther King, a combatant, diva, and spokesperson for a whole people, she is responsible for dozens of famous titles and albums.

Franklin learned to play the piano on her own, without knowing how to read music, and at the age of twelve sang and recorded her first gospel songs with her father. She signed her first music contract at age 18, with Columbia Records, before later joining Atlantic Records where she recorded most of her iconic songs. In 1979 began a friendship and professional relationship of 40 years with Clive Davis, which would produce many hits, and most of his career. She ranks 112 Billboard Top 100 titles including 20 number 1 R & B charts making her the # 1 ranked singer in the history of the US record industry. With more than 75 million records, she remains today the female artist with the most sales of vinyl records. She was the first woman to join the Rock & Roll Hall Fame,

Consisting of 8 episodes, season 3 of Genius brings together, David Cross, Malcolm Barrett, around Cynthia Erivo, Courtney B. Vance, Kimberly H├ębert Gregory, Patrice Covington, Rebecca Naomi Jones, and Sanai Victoria. Note that the series has already been renewed for a season 4 which will be devoted to Martin Luther King Jr.
