Netflix’s hit comedy The Kominsky Method, starring Michael Douglas, has just been granted a release date for Season 3, which will also be the last of the series.
Good news for Netflix’s viewers The Kominsky Method: the release date for Season 3 has just been confirmed. This original comedy is created by famous screenwriter Chuck Lorre. Lorre is the source of many successes, including the award-winning series The Big Bang Theory and Two and a Half Men.
The Kominsky Method has been a critical darling for many years. The series debuted in 2018 and has since won a Golden Globe in 2019 for Best TV Series – Comedy or Comedy. That same year, one of the stars of the series, Michael Douglas, also won a Golden Globe for his performance.
After season 2, The Kominsky Method sat in limbo for over six months. Netflix didn’t officially announce Season 3 until July 2020. However, the caveat that came with that announcement on Netflix News that the series would only return for one final season. Douglas will be back in Season 3 to reprise his role as Sandy Kominsky. Other returning stars are Sarah Baker and Kathleen Turner. However, Alan Arkin, who played Norman Newlander, Kominsky’s friend, will not be back. Arkin’s release has been pre-planned, and his character’s departure will be addressed in Season 3.
It is now confirmed that The Kominsky Method will return on Friday, May 28 for its final season.
Lisa Edelstein, Emily Osment, Graham Rogers, and Haley Joel Osment will all return as guest stars for the show’s final season. Season 3 will only have six episodes, while seasons 1 and 2 have eight.
According to the script, Season 3 of The Kominsky Method focuses on Kominsky as he explores what aging looks like. His longtime friend and agent Norman will not be with him, forcing Kominisky to navigate this new phase of his life on his own. However, when his ex-wife Roz Volander (Turner) comes to Los Angeles to spend more time with daughter Mindy (Baker) and boyfriend Martin (Paul Reiser), her life gets complicated. Their relationship being notoriously difficult, the arrival of Roz Volander only exacerbates the problems they have between them.
Critics and audiences alike have praised the acting and writing of The Kominsky Method for many years. Now that the series comes to an end, audiences will finally be able to see how the story of these characters ends. Given the accolades the series has received, it will be interesting to see if Season 3 of The Kominsky Method wins any further awards.
