The COVID-19 pandemic will have again forced Blizzard to cancel Blizzcon 2021 to better bounce back to prepare for an event by 2022.
Blizzard, the famous American company, has announced that Blizzcon 2021, the franchise’s annual fan convention will be canceled, once again due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the company later announced that it was planning a global event scheduled for early 2022.
No Blizzcon 2021 …
Saralyn Smith, executive producer of BlizzCon said in a press release that “creating a BlizzCon in person is an epic and complex affair that takes many months of preparation for us, but also for the many partners involved directly or indirect way to the living room. We pay special attention to esports professionals, hosts, artists, and other collaborators with whom we team up locally and globally to bring all the pieces together ”
He also said that “the various complexities and enduring multitude of uncertainties of the pandemic have impacted our ability to move forward well on many of these fronts. In the end, we realized that it would be a shame to do everything in a hurry. So we decided to develop the whole other event for our fans in November. ”
Blizzard knows how to make your mouth water
Blizzard has grown from being a simple video game publisher to one that produces and hosts very popular events. Earlier this year, Blizzard launched Blizzconline, a fully digital event. This event allowed the company to make announcements concerning future games of the franchise such as Overwatch 2 or Diablo 4. Other announcements were able to emerge such as patch 9.1 of World of Warcraft Shadowlands “the channels of domination ”which was announced with a trailer revealing at the same time Burning crusade classic. The pre-patch is already available in the different realms.
Aside from the release of the classic Burning Crusade slated for June 2, 2021, on French servers, the absence of BlizzCon this year brings some uncertainty about the future of the show. We may see the next updates for other Blizzard games in development later this year.
