Katla is available on Netflix! If you want to know all about the Season 2 release, read on! Katla, a subglacial volcano near the Icelandic town of Vik, has been erupting for about a year. Despite the constant release of ash into the atmosphere, the city has a few diehards who still live there. One of them is Grima, whose sister Ása disappeared from the glacier at the start of this series of eruptions. His father, Þór, was on the glacier to supply machinery to the workers. And he wants Grima and her husband Kjartan to move to Reykjavik, just for his health.
In a science outpost, Eyja and his colleague Leifur find a woman, naked and covered in ash, walking on the glacier and bring her back. The woman is hypothermic but seems to remember how she got there. When transferred to Vik hospital, Grima and Police Captain Gísli discover that it is a Swedish woman named Gunhild, who visited the glacier with Þór and worked at Vik’s local hotel.

WHAT IS THE RELEASE DATE FOR KATLA’S SEASON 2 ON NETFLIX?
The first season was released on June 17, 2021, in its entirety with 8 episodes of approximately 45 minutes. Currently, no renewal announcements have been made for Katla Season 2 on Netflix. For numerous years, Baltasar Kormákur has been working on the idea. So it’s easy to imagine that the series has a substantial story arc that will likely span multiple seasons.
The depth of the created world and the inconclusive ending of the first season suggests that the story still has a long way to go. If the series is extended. for a second season, Katla’s Season 2 release date is slated to be set for mid-2022 on Netflix.
WHAT CAN WE EXPECT FROM THE FOLLOWING?
Katla season 1 ends with the death of many humanoids that appeared as a result of the meteor. Mikael is drowned by Darri and Rakel, while Asa and Grima’s lookalike kill themselves. Finally, in the final scenes, we see a large number of dark figures, covered in ash, descend on the city from the glacier.
In the eventual Season 2 of Katla, we can expect to see the small town of Vik shaken up by the arrival of many other humanoids who are perfect copies of the loved ones the townspeople miss most. The complexity and myriad of ways the characters deal with the sudden reversal of death will continue to be explored.
As is the mystery of the underground meteor which is responsible for the strange phenomenon. Thor’s singular white-feathered raven, which is shown a number of times throughout Season 1 but remains unexplained, will most likely be detailed if the series returns with another season. On the casting side, we should see the majority of the cast coming back in Season 2 of Katla as well as some new faces!
