FIND OUT ON WHICH CONSOLE THE STAR WARS KOTOR REMAKE WILL BE AVAILABLE!
During the fall PlayStation Showcase, Sony officially announced that the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake is in development. The fan-favorite role-playing game will not only get improved graphics but a complete overhaul.
The KOTOR remake is being developed by Aspyr Media, Lucasfilm Games, and Sony Interactive Entertainment. Aspyr has previously worked with Lucasfilm Games on porting classic Star Wars games like Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast. In fact, this isn’t the first time Aspyr has worked on KOTOR, as the developer released a port of the game for iOS in 2014. The following year, he released macOS and Linux ports of the game’s sequel. , Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords.
WHAT WILL THE FIGHT SCENES LOOK LIKE?
Regarding changes to KOTOR’s plot or gameplay, Treadwell spoke in vague terms, such as making sure the game was “authentic to what players liked about the original game.” This vagueness, along with Treadwell’s comments about “rebuilding from scratch,” gives credence to rumors that circulated earlier this year that the KOTOR remake is an action RPG, instead of fighting. more D&D inspired from the original.
Aspyr seems to want to keep the spirit of KOTOR alive, going so far as to confirm that members of the original KOTOR development team are working on the remake. While very little is confirmed about the game, it looks like there will be similarities between the KOTOR remake and the Final Fantasy VII remake.
A more action-oriented fighting style makes sense in today’s gaming landscape, especially after the popularity of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. Much remains to be seen, especially as the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake is still in its early stages of development, but it’s clear Aspyr is preparing fans for some big changes to come.
ON WHICH CONSOLE WILL THE STAR WARS KOTOR REMAKE BE AVAILABLE?
A follow-up post on the PlayStation Blog announced that the Star Wars KOTOR remake will be a PlayStation 5 exclusive at launch. This wording leaves the possibility for KOTOR to move to other platforms, such as the Xbox Series X, after a period of exclusivity on the PS5.
Given that only the PS5 was cited, and not the PS4, it seems unlikely that the game will arrive on last-gen consoles. Lucasfilm Games has confirmed that the KOTOR remake will also be available on PC, giving players a second platform option.
While PS5 exclusives make sense at a time when video games are becoming more technologically demanding, it could be a source of frustration for gamers still struggling to find a PS5. Toshiba recently announced that it expects the semiconductor chip shortage to last until 2022.
This means that the PS5 and Xbox Series X shortages could continue into 2022. For now, the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake doesn’t have a release date, so Star Wars fans who are waiting for the game have all the time to find a console before.
