Despite what critics are saying about the new Conjuring Universe spinoff movies, there is definitely a huge audience ready to see horror movies on the big screen.
The success of La Nonne made it possible to envisage a sequel. Directors are really eager to expand the universe. WHAT RELEASE DATE FOR NUN 2?
During a chat with EW in 2019, The Conjuring franchise producer Peter Safran said that a sequel is in development for The Nun 2, which will apparently have “a really fun plot.” Akela Cooper was then hired to write the script for the movie. Unfortunately, there are no details on the sequel’s plot, and whether it will follow The Nun or pick up after Valak’s apparent defeat at the end of The Conjuring 2.
Given the success of the original and the enduring popularity of The Conjurvese itself, The Nun 2 seems almost certain. It’s likely that the project and any other spin-offs have been put on hold to focus on The Conjuring 3. And with this project completed, there should be more activity on the spin-off side soon. The movies tend to follow each other in a relatively tight release pattern, so if The Nun 2 is next, a release date for The Nun 2 should be set for 2023.
For Netflix subscribers who have just discovered the movie and want to know when it will be released on the platform, do not expect a release before 2026.
WHAT CAN WE EXPECT FROM THE NUN’S SUITE?
Nun 2 can be played out in two different ways. The ending of “The Nun” kind of wrapped up Valek’s story, but we know it’s not over yet. She returns to haunt Lorraine in “The Conjuring 2”. So there are more or less two decades between La Nonne and “The Conjuring”, before which the Warrens try to exorcise Maurice.
Sister Irene from the first movie may also is related to Lorraine Warren. This is a particularly strong possibility that I will discuss later. Either way, The Nun 2 can be interested in the period when Valek escaped between all these years, terrorizing and possessing people.
The Nun 2 can also retrace Valek’s journey after the demon was “apparently” condemned to hell by Lorraine in “The Conjuring 2”.
