Xiaomi would prepare a smartphone equipped with a 200 megapixel sensor from Samsung

In order to improve the sensor of its smartphones, Xiaomi could integrate a 200-megapixel ISOCELL HP1 sensor from Samsung in its Xiaomi Mi 12 Ultra.

According to the latest rumors, Xiaomi is preparing a high-end smartphone that would be equipped with Samsung's new 200-megapixel sensor, the ISOCELL HP1. The information shared by Digital Chat Station on Weibo did not mention the exact model name, but it could be the Xiaomi Mi 12 Ultra. Note that the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra incorporates the Samsung ISOCELL GN2 sensor.

The ISOCELL HP1 benefits from ChameleonCell technology which is supposed to greatly improve the sharpness of low-light photos. Additionally, it can shoot 8K videos at 30 frames per second.

The output of this 200-megapixel sensor is a first in the field. Why? Since the best photophones available on the market are equipped with a 108-megapixel sensor. However, we must not forget that the software part remains important and that mobiles equipped with a powerful sensor do not take photos at full resolution by default.

Our colleagues from Digital Chat Station indicate that the Samsung sensor should equip, in principle, the high-end smartphones of the Chinese brand, namely the Xiaomi Mi 12 Ultra. In other words, the company will launch models with a 108 and 64-megapixel sensor, which can please and satisfy a large number of people.

Regardless, the release date for the Series 12 of Xiaomi smartphones is not yet known. The brand is focusing on the 11T series, which should formalize a Xiaomi 11T Pro or even a Xiaomi 11T on September 15. Remember that the Cupertino brand will organize a keynote on September 14 to present its next products. Apple could launch the iPhone 13 line, the Apple Watch Series 7, and a 16-inch MacBook Pro.
