Today, CBS revealed some of the first details about Blue Bloods season 12 episode 20 — also known as the season finale! Will Hochman will reprise his role as Joe Hill in “Silver Linings Playbook” for the third year in a row.
So, what distinguishes this year’s finale from the previous one? This time around, there will be no two-part story and not every storyline will be linked in the same way. That being said, Joe will interact with several Reagan family members this time around, including Donnie Wahlberg as Danny and Will Estes as Jamie.
Check out the full Blue Bloods season 12 episode 20 synopsis below for more information on the finale as a whole:
“Silver Linings Playbook” – Danny and Jamie team up with their nephew, Joe Hill (Will Hochman), when their search for an undocumented teen girl who has been sex-trafficked intersects with Danny and Baez’s investigation into the murder of a woman in witness protection. In addition, Frank and Erin’s butt heads when Frank criticizes the District Attorney’s office for enacting a new rule that classifies armed robbery as a criminal offense, a mandate that has immediate ramifications for Eddie and her partner.
Is this the episode that finally solidifies Erin as a long-term District Attorney candidate? That’s a story that’s been going around for a long time. We appreciate how Frank’s story connects to Erin’s, which connects to Eddie. We like Blue Bloods better when there are connections, and not so much when each member of the Reagan family is on their own.

We should note that there is no official season 13 renewal at CBS as of yet; however, we have a hard time believing that this will be the series finale. If we had to guess, more stories will be released in the not-too-distant future.
