As we approach Wednesday’s finale, isn’t it about time for a Moon Knight season 2 discussion? We tend to believe this.
If this were almost any other show on the planet, we’d probably sit here and declare that you’re almost certain to see more of the Oscar Isaac show in the future.
It is enormously popular, there is a wealth of source material, and it has received positive reviews from the majority of viewers and critics.
However, there is a significant issue with looking ahead at the moment: the rather large beast known as the Marvel Cinematic Universe. There may not be a traditional season 2 simply because this character may have other plans.
While Moon Knight / Steven / Marc was initially cut off from the rest of the MCU during season 1, this does not mean they will remain so indefinitely. WandaVision, for example, is a show that served a purpose — it was beloved, but that did not mean Disney+ felt obligated to make more.
However, is Moon Knight even remotely comparable to WandaVision? We do not believe so. The central conceit of the Elizabeth Olsen series rendered it impossible to return for more.
This show, on the other hand, has the distinct impression that there is more in the tank. We prefer to compare it to Loki, which was strange and inventive while also securing a season 2 renewal.
Unless there is some VERY specific plan that has not been specified, we tend to believe that another batch of episodes is possible.
If Disney+ does desire additional content, we imagine they will act swiftly. There is no reason for them to wait; if they have other plans for the character, they are probably aware of them. Additionally, they likely assumed ahead of time that the first season would be well-received.
