Indian Hunter Ayesha Sood’s movie The Butcher of Delhi tells the story of a faceless individual who wreaked havoc in Delhi’s capital city in the early 2000s.
The few people who were unfortunate enough to have come into contact with and knew him during his active days are still terrified at the mention of his name.
Let’s take a look at what made this serial killer one of the most well-known criminals in the country and what happened to Chandrakant Jha today!

QUIZ: WHO IS CHANDRAKANT JHA?
Chandrakant Jha, originally from the Madhepura district of Bihar, India, moved to the capital Delhi at the age of 18 in search of a better life.
He chose self-determination, which brought out his dark and brutal side. He began with petty thefts before progressing to mutilation after mental and physical torture.
Chandrakant Jha dared to work as a rickshaw puller, laborer, and vegetable vendor in town, but he was frequently caught in trouble with the law.
Chandrakant Jha was first apprehended by the local police in 1998 for the murder of the head of his vendors’ association after an altercation over money.
Despite this, he was acquitted in 2002 due to a lack of evidence, which led to him assaulting several men over the years.
WHAT HAPPENS TO CHANDRAKANT JHA TODAY?
When Chandrakant Jha was apprehended for good on May 20, 2007, he not only confessed in detail to the seven homicides mentioned above, but he also explained why he mocked the police. He had resentment for a previous arrest.
In 2013, Chandrakant Jha was convicted of three counts of murder in the cases of Anil, Upender, and Dalip, for which he received two death sentences and a life prison sentence. In the other cases, he was acquitted due to a lack of evidence.
It should be noted that on appeal, a higher court commuted the death sentences imposed on this depraved intellect to life imprisonment.
Chandrakant Jha is currently serving his sentence in Delhi’s Tihar prison complex. His most recent parole request (in January 2022) was denied.
